Requirements

• The free MadeIT Product Configurator plugin, installed and active
• WooCommerce, WordPress 6.6+ and PHP 8.0+

Installation and license activation

1. Download the add-on from your MadeIT Labs customer account (Licenses → Download the current version).
2. In WordPress go to Plugins → Add New → Upload Plugin, choose the ZIP file and activate it.
3. Go to MadeIT Configurator → License, paste the 32-character key from your customer account and click "Save and activate".

Without a license the add-on works, but new versions are not available. The key is saved for one site address.

Adding fields to a product

1. Open a product, choose the Configurator tab in the Product data box and tick "Enable configurator".
2. Click "Add field", enter a name, pick a type and optionally tick "Required".
3. For dropdowns and choices enter the options, one per line. Add a surcharge after "|": a number is a fixed amount, with % it is a percent of the product price.
4. For a text field set the surcharge when filled in and the maximum length, then save the product.

Colour and texts (Pro)

In MadeIT Configurator → Settings open the Appearance tab to pick the accent colour, or the Texts tab to change the summary labels and the dropdown placeholder. The preview on the right shows the change before you save.

Troubleshooting

• The fields do not show on the product page: check that "Enable configurator" is ticked and that at least one field has a name, and that dropdowns and choices have options.
• A field disappears after saving: dropdown and choice fields without any option are discarded.
• The Appearance and Texts tabs are missing: check that the add-on is active and that the free plugin is version 1.0.0 or newer.
• License activation fails: check that the key has 32 characters, that the license is valid and that the site limit is not exceeded. You can detach a site in the customer account.

Updates

After the license is activated, new versions appear in WordPress under Dashboard → Updates and on the plugins list. After the license expires the add-on keeps working, but new versions are unavailable until you renew.

Frequently asked questions

Do I also need the free plugin?

Yes. MadeIT Product Configurator Pro is an add-on and needs the free MadeIT Product Configurator plugin from WordPress.org installed and active.

Is anything in the free plugin locked until I buy Pro?

No. The free plugin is complete: fields, surcharges, the live price, required fields and the options in the order. Pro adds the accent colour, your own texts and a live preview.

How do I write a surcharge for an option?

One option per line, with the surcharge after a vertical bar: "Walnut | 150" adds 150 in the shop currency, "Ash | 10%" adds 10% of the product price.

Are surcharges net or gross?

Like the product price: the way your shop stores prices. On the product page they are shown the way your shop displays prices, with or without tax.

Does it work with variable products?

Yes. The summary appears once a variation is chosen, and percentages are counted from the variation price.

Does it work with the block cart and checkout?

Yes. The chosen options and the price with surcharges show in the classic and the block cart and checkout, and are saved on the line item of the order.

What happens to the configurator when I deactivate Pro?

Nothing is lost. The configurator keeps working with the default colour and texts. Only the Appearance and Texts tabs disappear.

What happens when the license expires?

The installed version keeps working without limits. Only new versions and support are paused until you renew.

How many sites can one license be used on?

One license covers one site. You can detach a site in the customer account and activate the license elsewhere.

Does the add-on send customer data to MadeIT Labs?

No. Only the license key and the site address are sent to MadeIT Labs, to check the license.
